Wolf Canyon Music Showcase will be on Thursday, May 11 at 6:30pm, students to meet in the Music Room 5:45 for tuning and preparation.

Music Department Clubs playing for the Volunteer Appreciation Wednesday May 31 at 6:30pm

Club T-Shirts

Club t-shirts are being given out for performances.  Students will receive only ONE t-shirt for the club or clubs they participate in.  The t-shirts are now required as part of concert dress.  If students lose or damage their shirts they must purchase a replacement at a cost of $15.

The 6 of Grade 6 Strings:

It is essential that they notify me of any rehearsals they are unable to attend.  If they miss more that 3 rehearsals their place will be in jeopardy and they may be dropped from the ensemble.  The 6 of Grade 6  will be playing at the Grade 6 Promotion.

Practice:

Beginner Strings are working on 1 octave scales G Major, D Major & A Major (Violins) or C Major (Violas & Cellos).  Practice playing to word rhythms like ‘Pepp-er-on-i Pi-zza’ & ‘Pink Flu-ffy Un-i-corns’, they are also working on Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, also in rhythms as suggested above & Frere Jacque (Are You Sleeping), English Round.

Advanced Orchestra are working on 2 Octave scales in G Major or C Major as well as the 1 octave scales listed above with slurred bowing.  They are also working on excercises 88, 90 & 141 from Essential Elements – Frere Jacques, English Round, Tallis Canon & Chop Sticks.

Recorders are continuing to work on the recorder karate belts and Stitches

Guitars are working on Yellow submarine, Hey Jude and Let It Be with the chords D Maj, A Minor, G Major, E minor, E Major & F Major.

Juan Palacios will be visiting Wolf Canyon on Friday, April 14 at 1:15pm to share information about the programs offered by San Diego Youth Symphony and how SDYS can help support the development of our young musicians.  SDYS has a number of programs that cater to all levels and abilities from absolute beginners up. All parents who are interested in finding out more are welcome to attend.  Juan will be in the music room to meet with parents and students at 1:15pm, please come along.
