Practice: As our young musicians develop their instrumental skill, practice is essential to their progress.  You can help stimulate their motivation to practice by allocating a quiet space and time into their routine with gentle but firm reminders! “Come on, it’s 5 o’clock, it’s time for you to practice now!”

Beginner Guitars are working of Yellow Submarine, Okey Pokey and Get Up Stand Up – with a strumming rhythm

Advanced guitars are recapping EVERYTHING we’ve played with full chords and rhythmic strumming patterns..  You can find the repertoire on the Guitar Grooves tab of this blog.

Beginner Strings are practicing the posture sequence, the Ant Song, 1st finger placement on the strings and See The Little Monkey. Practice sheets are available for students to work through at their own pace.

Advanced strings are playing The William Tell, Spring , the Warm Up page as well as scales D major, G major, A major (C major for Cello & Viola).  They should also be practicing their own repertoire.

Recorder Ninjas are working on their recorder Karate belt.

Music Department News!!!

Every lesson, classes work to keep their ‘Whole Note’.  They will keep their Whole Note by entering and leaving the music room sensibly and quietly, sitting nicely, following directions and focused attentive listening – I will take a quarter note away if they are too chatty, because then they are not following directions or listening attentively.  At the end of each quarter, the class in each grade level with the most whole notes is awarded the B#(sharp) Music Awards as part of the Wolf Canyon Awards Presentation Assembly. The winning class takes the trophy back to their classroom to proudly display until the next awards assembly.
