Opus

Registration for the San Diego Youth Symphony, Community Opus Program is now officially open for the next academic year.  There is limited availability and space, so please sign up sooner rather than later!  You can enroll you child in the Opus program by following THIS LINK. 

Please refer to Musician Handbook 2018-2019 for further information about the Opus Program.

All student participating is music activities after school MUST be collected from the music room when the club finishes. Please be mindful with regards to the end of club pick up times. I often have my own commitments after school. When you are late collecting your children from clubs, I am late for my own commitments & appointments.

Concert Dates:

Saturday May 12 – The String orchestra have been invited to perform at “Hearts for Arts”, an event sponsored by The Rotary Club of Chula Vista, Eastlake, raising money for the VAPA programs of CVESD.  The Event takes place at Gran Rey Church, 871 Harold Place, ste 301, Chula Vista, CA 91914.  We will meet at the venue at 12 noon.  Concert dress – Black bottoms, blue string orchestra shirt & dark shoes.

Tuesday May 29 – Piano Dedication Ceremony, The Wolf canyon Orchestras and GLEE will be performing.  The ceremony will begin at 2pm in the MPR.

For rentals I am suggesting Harmony Music Company, they are local to Chula Vista and they have a good range of quality student instruments. They are offering a ‘reduced deposit deal’. Instrument loans through school are free of charge from Friday afternoon to Monday morning, all loaned instruments must be returned by 8am Monday morning so that they are available for other students to use.

Please consider renting or purchasing an instrument to enable a daily practice routine. For rentals I am suggesting Harmony Music Company, they are local to Chula Vista and they have a good range of quality student instruments. They are offering a ‘reduced deposit deal’. Informational flyers will be sent home. Please e-mail me to ask if you wish to check on the size of the instrument your child requires.
